Be a Tree - A program by Doggone Safe

Teaching children how to be safe around dogs.

The Be a Tree TM program is a fun and interactive presentation that teaches children how to read dog body language and be safe around dogs. It is administered by Doggone Safe TM, a non-profit organization dedicated to dog bite prevention through education, and dog bite victim support. A leader in dog bite prevention programming, more than half a million children have benefitted from the program. It has the support of veterinary medical associations and veterinary technician/technologist associations. It’s a great way to ensure fewer problematic child/dog interactions.

This program focuses on fun and interactive activities to teach dog safety to children. The emphasis is on helping children learn to read dog body language and how to behave around their own and unfamiliar dogs in a safe manner.


  • Presentation length 30 - 45 minutes
  • Ideal age group 4 - 10 years (can be adapted for 3 year olds)
  • Group size 4 - 30 children
  • Teacher or supervisor is asked to attend
  • Educational materials and certificates provided

In home consultations and on-going support also available for families with dogs. A great way to be safe in your family!
